Top 5 steps to fit your bike helmet

Helmets are super important when you ride a bike or scooter to keep your brain safe. But guess what? Your helmet needs to fit just right! Don't worry, I've got some easy steps and tips to help you make sure your helmet fits perfectly. And if you're not sure, don't hesitate to go to a bike shop and ask a pro for help. It's not something you want to take lightly! Your safety comes first!

5 steps to fit your bike helmet:

  1. Size: First, measure your head to find the right size. You can use a tape measure or ask someone to help you. This will make sure you start with the right size. Try on different helmets in your size. Put them on and see how they feel. Keep trying until you find one that feels just right. Once you've found the right helmet, place it level on your head. It shouldn't be tilting backward or forward. A nice, flat fit is best.

2. Position: The helmet should sit level on your head and low on your forehead.  One or two finger lengths above your eyebrow

3. Side Straps: Adjust the slider on both straps to form a “V” shape under, and slightly in front of the ears. Lock the slider if possible.

4. Buckles: Center the left buckle under the chin. On most helmets the straps can be pulled from the back of the helmet to lengthen or shorten the chin straps. This task is easier if you take the helmet off to make these adjustments

5. Chin strap: Buckle your chin strap. Tighten the strap until it is snug. No more than one or two fingers should fit under the strap.

To make sure your helmet fits correctly, follow these easy steps:

  1. Check the Height: When you put on the helmet and open your mouth wide like a big yawn, it shouldn't push down on your head. If it does, go back to step five and tighten the chin strap.

  2. Watch the Position: Make sure the helmet sits just about two fingers above your eyebrows. If it rocks back too far, unbuckle it and adjust the front strap by moving the slider piece forward. Then buckle it up again, retighten the chin strap, and check the fit.

  3. Rubber Band Trick: Roll the rubber band down to the buckle. All four straps should go through the rubber band and be close to the buckle. This will keep your helmet from slipping and stay secure.

With these easy steps, you can be sure that your helmet fits perfectly, giving you the best protection while you have fun riding!
