Concussions and Bikes: What you need to know to stay safe on the road
Cycling head injuries happen more often than you might think. Bicycling leads to the highest number of sport and recreation–related emergency department (ED) visits for traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) in the United States according to the CDC. Bicycle-related deaths increased between 2009 and 2018, primarily among adults. According to a review of research, helmet-wearing is associated with an almost 70 percent lower risk of serious head injury (and a 50 percent reduced risk of any head injury) in a crash.

MIPS Helmet Technology
The MIPS helmet has a special feature that allows it to move slightly inside itself. This movement helps to decrease the force on the brain when there's an impact, making it less likely for someone to get a concussion. MIPS says that while most helmets are designed to deal with linear (straight on) forces, its systems account for these rotational (head moves) forces.
